The Rock Hall Reconsidered Project: Round 10 Results

After the Round 9 results were revealed, each nomination committee member was asked to compile another list of 40 currently-eligible artists to create the Round 10 ballot. With the addition of newly-eligible artists for the Class of 1991 (who released their first record in 1965) to the mix. With 10 spots available from last round, the committee replaced their existing nominees and generated an official ballot for Round 10:

The other 32 artists who did not receive induction this round will automatically be nominated in Round 11. Next week, we will consider artists eligible for the Class of 1992 (artists who released their first record in 1966).

Artists Who Were Considered by the Committee but Ultimately Didn’t Receive Enough Votes to Appear on the Round 10 Ballot: Bobby "Blue" Bland, Bobby Womack, Buddy Guy, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, Connie Francis, Desmond Dekker & The Aces, Freddie King, Gene Pitney, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Glen Campbell, Harry Belafonte, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Reed, Johnny Burnette & The Rock N Roll Trio, Koko Taylor, Lightnin' Hopkins, Little Willie John, Merle Haggard, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Nancy Sinatra, Peter, Paul & Mary, Phil Ochs, Randy Newman, The "5" Royales, The Blossoms, The Chiffons, The Clovers, The Crystals, The Dave Clark Five, The Dominoes, The Flamingos, The Guess Who, The Hollies, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Small Faces, The Spencer Davis Group, The Walker Brothers, The Yardbirds, Tom Jones, Tommy James & The Shondells, Wynonie Harris

***Important Update***

Over the past two rounds, only one performer has appeared on less than 15% of ballots cast, and even then only by one vote.

While Round 10 voting did include 8 inductees, several of these inductees only qualified by a handful of votes, with the highest vote-getters only receiving 53% of the vote. At various points late in the voting process, as few as two performers had the required votes to be inducted.

Given the excessively large number of Hall of Fame inductees and performers considered major snubs coming up over the course of the next 15-20 rounds and the extremely limited number of available ballot spaces created via induction, the decision has been made to raise the requirement for automatic re-nomination from 15% to 25% beginning with the upcoming Round 11. Since this updated standard isn't applied until next round, I would encourage supporters of performers that have previously finished in the 15% - 25% range to pitch their chosen performers on the Twitter threads and using #RockHallReconsideredProject as this has proven successful in some previous cases. For example, Professor Longhair doubled his vote total from Round 9 to Round 10 after a similar campaign was mounted. You can also post your pitches for artists on this blog and future results blogs.

Starting with Round 15, voting will begin for the weekly Veterans Ballot, which will induct numerous candidates (a safe estimate would be 3-5 per round) that are no longer eligible for the Performers Ballot and we intend to give preferential treatment to those that do well on the Performers Ballot, but fall short of the 50% required for induction.
